The AI operations glossary
Plain-English definitions of the terms behind AI business partners that keep an eye on operations, from agentic AI and self-assembling dashboards to data minimisation and ANZSIC classification, written to stand on their own.
- Agentic AI for business operations
- Agentic AI for business operations refers to AI systems that go beyond answering questions and take multi-step actions on a business's behalf, such as drafting a report, running a scheduled check, or triggering a workflow, typically within limits a human has defined in advance.
- AI business operating system
- People use this term for software that connects the tools a business already runs (accounting, payroll, rostering, sales, safety), reads across them with AI, surfaces what matters, and acts, rather than treating each tool as a separate report someone has to compile by hand. Nuromi is closer in spirit to an AI business partner: it watches your systems from the outside and tells you what needs you, rather than being a place you run the business from.
- ANZSIC classification
- ANZSIC (Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification) is the official statistical system used by the Australian Bureau of Statistics and Statistics New Zealand to classify businesses into industries, using a hierarchy of divisions, subdivisions, groups, and classes.
- Data minimisation in AI
- Data minimisation in AI is the practice of sending an AI model only the specific, often aggregated, data it needs to answer a question or generate an output, rather than exposing an entire raw dataset to the model by default.
- k-anonymity in business benchmarking
- k-anonymity in business benchmarking is a privacy rule requiring that any comparison group (a cohort used to show how a business compares to peers) contains at least k other businesses, so no individual business's data can be identified or reverse-engineered from the aggregate.
- Multi-entity consolidation
- Multi-entity consolidation is the process of combining financial and operational data from multiple related business entities (subsidiaries, branches, franchises, sites) into a single consistent view, so leadership can see the group as a whole as well as each part.
- Self-assembling dashboard
- A self-assembling dashboard is a business dashboard that builds and updates its own layout based on what data sources are actually connected, showing only the widgets that have real data behind them instead of a fixed template with empty placeholders.
- Zero data retention on model calls
- Zero data retention on model calls means an AI model provider processes a request to generate a response but does not store the input or output afterward, and does not use that data to train or improve its models.
